We are open all year as the weather is never hot, cold or wet enough to justify closing down.
The Lodge is at 3800 feet and we are thus free of malaria and humidity.
Most of our guests stay for two nights although some stay as long as five! It all depends on how much of our beautiful area you wish to visit. Don’t forget relaxation time.
The dress code is casual at the Lodge, for all occasions including dinner.
Summer is our rainy season and we often have thunderstorms in the afternoons. The days are hot but by nightfall it cools off. However please be prepared for a cold snap. Our winters are generally mild and dry with warm days and chilly mornings and evenings – a wonderful time for visiting KwaZulu-Natal.
Children of all ages are most welcome at Three Trees. Children sharing with parents on extra beds will be charged at a reduced rate. The normal rate will apply for children occupying separate rooms. Unfortunately we cannot take children under the age of 12 on the tours. We have competent staff at the Lodge who will look after them while you are out on tour.
For the tours you will need comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat, sunblock, binoculars, sunglasses and a light jersey/jacket for the summer and in winter a warm jacket/fleece. A light rain/wind proof jacket is recommended.
Transfers to/from anywhere in South Africa can be arranged on request.
