What is the best time of year to visit?

We are open all year as the weather is never hot, cold or wet enough to justify closing down.

Is the Lodge in a malaria area?

The Lodge is at 3800 feet and we are thus free of malaria and humidity.

How many nights should we stay at the Lodge?

Most of our guests stay for two nights although some have stayed as long as TEN! It all depends on how much of our beautiful area you wish to visit. Don’t forget relaxation time.

Is there a dress code at the Lodge?

The dress code is casual at the Lodge, for all occasions including dinner.

What is the weather like?

Summer is our rainy season and we often have thunderstorms in the afternoons. The days are warm to hot but by nightfall it cools off. However please be prepared for a cold snap. Our winters are generally mild and dry with warm days and chilly mornings and evenings – a wonderful time for visiting KwaZulu-Natal.

Are children welcome?

Children of all ages are most welcome at Three Trees. Children sharing with parents on extra beds will be charged at a reduced rate. The normal rate will apply for children occupying separate rooms. Unfortunately we cannot take children under the age of 12 on the tours. We have competent 1st Aid Trained staff at the Lodge who will look after them while you are out on tour.

What should I bring on Battlefield tours?

For the tours you will need comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat, sunblock, binoculars, sunglasses and a light jersey/jacket for the summer and in winter a warm jacket/fleece. A light rain/wind proof jacket is recommended.

Do you offer transfers?

Transfers to/from anywhere in South Africa can be arranged on request.
