Spioenkop Battle Anniversary Package 2026

We are offering guests the opportunity to immerse themselves into a full 3 day programme, culminating with the Battle of Spioenkop on Saturday, the 24th January 2026 (actual day of the battle)

Options to join for a portion of the programme also available.

22 Jan: Arrival and Exploration Arrive in Johannesburg mid-morning and embark on a scenic 3.5-hour drive to the enchanting Three Tree Hill. After a light lunch, set out on the Artillery Trail (4km) to explore the historic gun positions on Three Tree Hill. Learn about the pivotal events leading up to the Anglo Boer War. Conclude your day with sundowners overlooking the majestic Drakensberg mountains, followed by a delightful 3-course dinner that highlights local flavours.

23 Jan: A Journey Through Time After a hearty breakfast, venture to the Colenso Battlesite area, stopping at Frere - the site where Winston Churchill was famously captured. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst history before delving into the stories of the Ladysmith Siege at Wagon Hill, Caesar’s Camp, and Platrand. Visit the Siege Museum for deeper insights, before returning to the lodge just in time for a breathtaking sunset and a sumptuous dinner.

24 Jan: Commemorating Courage Start your day early with breakfast before heading to the summit of Spioenkop, where the gripping tale of the battle will unfold on the actual date that it happened – 24th January. Return to the lodge for a relaxing late lunch, with the afternoon free to explore the library, take a walk on one of the well-marked farm trails or simply unwind. As evening falls, gather around the boma fire for drinks and share stories before enjoying another exquisite dinner.

25 Jan: Departure and onward journey
