The Team

The heart of Three Tree Hill is our team, many of whom come from the neighbouring community, Hambrook Village. They bring warmth, local knowledge and a personal connection to the lodge. Their welcome, attention to detail and knowledge of the area help make Three Tree Hill a relaxed, personal place to stay, where guests can connect with the landscape, its history and the people who call it home.

Simon and Cheryl Blackburn purchased Three Tree Hill in 2007. Born and raised in South Africa, they have spent much of their lives exploring remote parts of Africa together with their four children, Kei, Neo, Jos and Cas, who have shared in many of these adventures. Their love of exploration, people and authentic experiences continues to shape the way they welcome guests and run the lodge.

Simon and Cheryl believe that a good lodge is built on open communication, mutual respect and meaningful relationships. Their connection with the surrounding community is reflected in local employment, staff development and involvement in community initiatives. For them, hospitality extends beyond welcoming guests: it also means creating a workplace where people can grow and helping to build positive relationships with the community around them.
